Lock keeper cottage in Butterud

Buterud is a perfect place for those looking for a relaxing and idyllic experience. The lock keeper's residence is embedded in the beautiful nature that surrounds Dalsland's canal. From the house you have a fantastic view of the lakes and the lock basin, where you can watch the lock keeper manually open the gates in exactly the same way as when the canal was inaugurated over 150 years ago.

Located right next to the lock station and the lock basin, Buterud's cottage offers a charming holiday home with an old-fashioned feel. The cottage has gone through a renovation in the spring of 2021 and now offers 45 square meters of comfort and amenities.

Inside the cottage there is a fully equipped kitchen with a dining table, a living room with a sofa bed for two people and a bedroom with a comfortable double bed. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and washing machine.

Enjoy the beautiful view from the windows of the house, overlooking the lakes and the dug canal. Buterud's lock is still operated entirely by hand, with a lift of about 0.8 meters from lake Åklång to lake Råvarp.
