The lock keeper cottage in Snäcke

Welcome to a place with rich history and a pleasant atmosphere - Snäcke canal and Sluss. These places are part of the Dalsland canal, an important transport route through southern Sweden. The shell cabin has been home to generations of lock keepers and is a very charming red wooden house in an angular shape. Within its walls are two floors with a fine atmosphere, adorned with a magnificent tiled stove. Come and experience this unique place and its history.

"Snäcke cabin"  is the perfect place for a relaxing stay in scenic surroundings. The house offers plenty of space for up to eight people with three bedrooms, of which each room has two beds and a sofa bed for two people. The living room is spacious with a large dining table and an impressive tiled stove. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom has a toilet, shower and a washing machine.

The veranda is a perfect place to enjoy fresh air, the view of Lake Östebosjön and its surroundings, as well as a grilled dinner on the grill. For those who wish to explore the area, a boat with oars and motor is available to guests during the sailing season, including free sluicing throughout the canal system.

Take an excursion and discover the beautiful surroundings, such as Lake Östebosjön or Ånimmen, where you can visit Strömmens sluss and lake Ärr with its beautiful church from 1730 and an altar crucifix from the 13th century. Or take a day trip to Fengersfors mill, with its café, bakery and exhibitions.

For those who want to explore the area by boat, you can visit Köpmannebro lock and its ice cream cafe (during summertime) or pass through the locks in Upperud and visit the world-famous aqueduct in Håverud.
